OHL Training Camps Are Officially Here

The wait for Ontario Hockey League hockey is almost over.

The 2026-27 season begins to take shape this week as all 20 OHL teams welcome players back for training camp. From returning veterans and NHL prospects to recent draft picks and free-agent invites, the next several days will give organizations their first opportunity to evaluate the players competing for a place on this year’s roster.

Camp schedules vary across the league. Some clubs are beginning with rookie or development camps before transitioning into main camp, while others are moving directly into full practices and intrasquad competition. Several teams are also giving fans an early look at their organizations through public scrimmages, annual Black vs. White or Blue vs. White games, and special preseason events.

Here is a team-by-team look at when each OHL club gets started and what to watch for during training camp.

Barrie Colts — Training Camp Opens August 24

The Barrie Colts will begin their week at Sadlon Arena on Monday, August 24. Players will go through fitness testing and on-ice work before the camp moves into a pair of days featuring intrasquad games.

One of the highlights of the week comes Thursday, August 27, when Barrie’s annual Blue vs. White Game takes place at 6:00 p.m. The Colts will then wrap up camp with the Barrie Showcase on August 29 and 30, hosting the Owen Sound Attack, Oshawa Generals and Brantford Bulldogs in a four-team preseason event.

Brampton Steelheads — Training Camp Opens August 25

The Brampton Steelheads get underway Tuesday, August 25, at the CAA Centre.

Camp will run through Thursday, August 27, with fans able to attend Blue vs. White scrimmages each day on the MAC hockey rink. The scrimmages are scheduled to run from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Brantford Bulldogs — Training Camp Opens August 24

The Brantford Bulldogs will welcome 62 players to the TD Civic Centre when camp opens Monday, August 24.

The opening day includes fitness testing and on-ice drills before the group is split into four teams for a series of scrimmages over the following two days. The camp’s final showcase will be the annual Black & Gold Game on Thursday, August 27, at 1:00 p.m., with the game open to the public.

Erie Otters — Training Camp Opens August 22

The Erie Otters are one of the first teams in the league to get started, opening camp Saturday, August 22, at Erie Insurance Arena.

Intrasquad action begins that afternoon, followed by additional practices and scrimmages through August 25. Fans attending camp can also take part in the Otters’ School Supply Drive, held in partnership with the Brighter Future Foundation.

Flint Firebirds — Training Camp Opens August 25

The Flint Firebirds begin camp Tuesday, August 25, at Flint Iceland Arena.

The camp opens with a prospect game at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday before continuing with seven intrasquad games over the remainder of the week. Flint’s camp runs through Friday, August 28, and all games are open to the public.

Guelph Storm — Training Camp Opens August 24

The Guelph Storm will hit the ice at the Sleeman Centre beginning Monday, August 24.

The club’s camp continues through Saturday, August 29, giving the Storm nearly a full week of on-ice sessions as the organization begins sorting through its returning players and prospects. Sessions throughout camp are open to the public.

Kingston Frontenacs — Training Camp Opens August 26

The Kingston Frontenacs will begin training camp Wednesday, August 26, at Slush Puppie Place.

Wednesday’s scrimmages will not be open to the public, but fans will have the opportunity to attend the club’s intrasquad games on Thursday and Friday as Kingston continues its preparations for the new season.

Kitchener Rangers — Training Camp Opens August 25

The reigning 2026 Memorial Cup champions will open training camp Tuesday, August 25, at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.

The Rangers will conduct preseason off-ice performance testing before dividing the roster into Team Blue and Team White for a three-game intrasquad series. All three games will be open to the public free of charge.

London Knights — Training Camp Opens August 24

The London Knights will begin camp Monday, August 24, at Canada Life Place.

While the first two days of scrimmages will be closed to the public, fans can attend the club’s annual Green and Gold Game on Wednesday, August 26, at 4:00 p.m. Admission to the game is free.

Niagara IceDogs — Rookie Camp Opens August 24

The Niagara IceDogs will start their evaluation process with Rookie Camp on Monday, August 24.

More than 40 players are expected to compete for the opportunity to advance into the next stage of camp. The IceDogs will transition into Main Camp on Thursday, August 27, with scrimmages continuing through Friday, August 28.

North Bay Battalion — Development Camp Opens August 24

The North Bay Battalion will begin with a three-day development camp starting Monday, August 24.

Scrimmages are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday before Main Camp begins Wednesday and continues through Friday, August 28. Additional scrimmages will take place Thursday and Friday, with all scrimmages open to the public free of charge.

Oshawa Generals — Training Camp Opens August 24

The Oshawa Generals will open training camp Monday, August 24, at the Tribute Communities Centre.

Camp runs through Thursday, August 27, with the club opening its on-ice scrimmages to the public at no charge.

Ottawa 67’s — Players Report August 26

The Ottawa 67’s will begin their camp process Wednesday, August 26, at TD Place, with players reporting for medical and fitness testing.

The on-ice portion begins Thursday, August 27. The camp will feature two days of intrasquad competition, including scrimmages and a 3-on-3 tournament. All sessions are open to fans and media free of charge.

Owen Sound Attack — Training Camp Opens August 22

The Owen Sound Attack join Erie as the earliest teams to begin camp, opening Saturday, August 22, at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.

The opening weekend will focus on rookie practices and scrimmages before Main Camp begins Monday, August 24. The Attack will also host a new BBQ event Saturday beginning at 4:00 p.m., giving fans an opportunity to meet players, prospects and members of the club’s Hockey Operations staff.

Peterborough Petes — Rookie Camp Opens August 24

The Peterborough Petes will begin with Rookie Camp on Monday, August 24.

The two-day camp will feature three scrimmage games before Main Camp takes over Wednesday, August 26. Three additional scrimmages are scheduled during Main Camp, which concludes Thursday, August 27. All games will be played on the Sign-A-Fied pad at Healthy Planet Arena and will be open to the public.

Saginaw Spirit — Training Camp Opens August 24

The Saginaw Spirit will open training camp Monday, August 24, at the Saginaw Bay Ice Arena.

Camp runs through Wednesday, August 26, with the club making its scrimmages, practices and on-ice sessions available to the public free of charge.

Sarnia Sting — Training Camp Opens August 25

The Sarnia Sting will begin their on-ice camp sessions Tuesday, August 25.

Intrasquad games follow Wednesday and Thursday before the camp concludes with the annual Black vs. White Game on Friday, August 28, at 6:00 p.m. The game will support the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton.

Soo Greyhounds — Development Camp Opens August 24

The Soo Greyhounds will open the week with Development Camp on Monday, August 24, at GFL Memorial Gardens.

A group of 48 draft picks and free-agent invites will take part in the opening two days, competing for an opportunity to move on to Main Training Camp. Main Camp begins Wednesday and continues through Friday, August 28.

Most of the week’s on-ice activity is free and open to the public. The exception is the Luke Williams Memorial Red & White Game, scheduled for Friday, August 28, at 7:07 p.m.

Sudbury Wolves — Training Camp Opens August 25

The Sudbury Wolves begin camp Tuesday, August 25, at the Sudbury Community Arena.

The camp runs through Friday, August 28, with practices, scrimmages and other on-ice sessions open to the public free of charge. The annual Blue vs. White Game will take place Friday at 12:00 p.m.

Windsor Spitfires — Training Camp Opens August 27

The Windsor Spitfires are the last OHL club scheduled to open training camp, beginning Thursday, August 27, at the WFCU Centre.

Camp continues through Saturday, August 29. The club’s annual Team White vs. Team Blue game will take place Saturday at 5:10 p.m., with camp activities open to the public free of charge.

A Crucial Week for Players Across the OHL

Training camp is about much more than simply getting back on the ice.

For established players, this is the first opportunity to set the tone for a new season. For rookies and recently drafted prospects, every practice and scrimmage is a chance to show that they belong at the OHL level. For free-agent invites and players on the edge of a roster, the coming week could be an important step in determining where they play in 2026-27.

Coaching staffs will also begin answering some of their biggest preseason questions. Which young players are ready for a larger role? Which prospects need more development? And which players can force their way into the conversation before the regular season arrives?

Across all 20 organizations, those answers begin to take shape now.

With training camps opening from August 22 through August 27, OHL hockey is officially back on the calendar—and the race to earn a spot has begun.
